TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY – MAY 8TH

Teacher Appreciation Day is right around the corner on May 8th and we are making the final preparations for this wonderful event.   More information will be sent home with the children.

END OF THE YEAR PICNIC – MAY 18TH

MCDS Parents have planned a picnic to celebrate another wonderful school year.  The picnic will be here at the school on Friday, May 18th from 10:300am to 12:30pm.   It’s sure to be a fun-filled morning.  The picnic is sponsored by the parents of the school.  Watch for a flyer with more information.  We appreciate the support for a wonderful event for the children.

GO BONKERS!

Help us raise money for our summer programs by Going Bonkers!  Thursday, May 24th from 5-7 P.M. at Going Bonkers on MacArthur Blvd. in Lewisville, near Vista Ridge Mall.  This will be our final fundraiser for the school year, and a last chance for our families to get together before summer break.  Hope to see you there!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL – MAY 31ST - HALF DAY

The last day of this school year is Thursday, May 31st.  We will not be having a true school day.  This day is for Parents to come by the school with their children and say good -bye to the teachers.  The Teachers will be at the school between 8:15am and 11:15am.  Everyone is welcome to come in at any time during those hours.

CLASS READING BOOKS

As we near the end of the school year, each teacher will need to collect all reading or library books and any other school materials that belong to the school.  A notice was  sent home letting you know that Friday, April 27th was the  last day reading material was sent  home.  All books and materials  need to be returned back to the school immediately so the teachers can do their inventory of school books.  Please check your homes for any items that need to be returned to the school.

CAMP COUNTRY DAY SUMMER PROGRAMS

We already are close to filling our classrooms for summer school.  There are still spots available for our fun and exciting Camp Country Day Programs, but please sign up as soon as possible.  This summer the schedule is much more flexible, with either  weekly or monthly programs and we’ve expanded the time to include two weeks in August. There are no registration fees, just a $50 deposit that goes towards tuition.  Please enroll as soon as possible.  All families are welcome, including families not enrolled throughout the school year.

RE-ENROLLMENT FOR FALL 2012

If you plan to have your child attend school starting in the fall and have not  yet enrolled,  you may use your May 2012 deposit towards the May 2013 deposit.  Just make your regular payment in May and we will apply it to the deposit.  If you do plan to re-enroll for the fall, please inform the office prior to May 14th.  The teachers prepare their lesson plans and classrooms prior to the end of the year for the 2012/2013 school year.  Each student will be placed with a teacher before the end of this school year.   Please contact the office to re-enroll.

FALL ORIENTATION

For all students returning in the fall, Student and Parent Orientation will take place from August 28th through the 30th, with the first full day of school on Tuesday, September 4thth.   You will receive your schedule in the mail and/or email as it gets closer to that day.

REMINDERS…

*NO CELL PHONE USAGE -EVEN HANDS FREE.  We need your complete attention during pick-up and drop off—cell phone usage at that time poses a danger since the children are near the traffic.

* Please do not let the children wear flip-flops to school.  This will help to avoid playground accidents.

*Reading with your child on a regular basis is a vital element for helping children to become proficient readers.  Stop in the office for summer reading lists to help you get started.
